Aren’t there more important things to worry about? The Church, the Pope and St. Joseph Parish included, owes her attention to many important issues. The Second Vatican Council’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy describes the importance of the Liturgy, especially the Mass, in these ways: “The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the font from which all her power flows” (10) and “it is the primary and indispensable source from which the faithful are to derive the true Christian spirit” (14). The Mass is the way we honor the Lord’s command, given the night before He died: “Do this in memory of me.” It is the primary way we keep holy the Lord’s Day, the day He rose from the dead, the way we lovingly fulfill the Third Commandment. God gives us His best: everything good that we have, beginning with the gift of life. He deserves our best in return. Therefore, we are right to put in the extra time and effort to enhance our worship of Him. This new translation will help us do just that.

Fr.
